Badgers are neutral mobs that spawn in many vegetated biomes.

Appearance[]

Badgers come in 3 different variants: a pale brown variant with a white neck and chest, dark grey stripes running down its head, a black nose pad, dark grey legs, and grey claws (based on the European badger), a grey variant with a dark grey rump, flanks, and facial markings, a grey nose pad, black legs, and brown claws (based on the American badger), and a black variant with a white back, a pink nose pad, and light brown claws (based on the honey badger).

Behavior[]

Badgers will not attack players unless provoked, and, when undisturbed, will wander around aimlessly and avoid any natural hazards such as high cliffs or lava. However, if provoked by a player or another mob, they will start digging into the ground, throwing chunks of dirt that deal 0.75 hearts (1.5 HP) of damage and momentarily inflict Blindness III if they hit their target in the upper front of their hitbox; if their foe gets less than 1 block away from them, they will start running at them and dealing 1.25 hearts (2.5 HP) of damage upon contact.
