Pheasants are passive mobs that spawn in many vegetated biomes.

Appearance

Pheasants are based on the ring-necked pheasant, and although they always have light grey beaks and legs as well as dark stripes on their tail feathers, they come in 2 different color variants: an orange-brown rooster with a green head, a red wattle, and light grey ring around its neck, and a light brown hen.

Pheasant chicks are always yellow in color, with a light grey beak and legs, and dark brown stripes running down their bodies.

Behavior

Pheasants act similarly to most other passive mobs, aimlessly wandering around, avoiding any natural hazards such as lava, and running around in a panicked manner upon taking damage; as well as this, when undisturbed, they will occasionally lower their head to peck at the ground. When falling, they will flap their wings in order to slow their descent, similarly to the vanilla chickens.

Pheasants can be bred with pumpkin seeds, and are bred in the same manner as other vanilla animals (right-clicking with the breeding item). As well as this, they will follow any player holding pumpkin seeds within a radius of 8 blocks.

It takes 1 day for a pheasant chick to reach adulthood.

Similarly to the vanilla chickens, pheasants will lay a single Pheasant Egg every 5-10 minutes while they are alive.

Trivia

• Pheasants experience noticeable Z-fighting on their heads; this is due to the fact that their heads are 2 seperate pieces that overlap in order to create a piece just slightly wider than their necks.
