Turkeys are neutral mobs that spawn in forested biomes.

Appearance

Turkeys are based on the wild turkey, and although they always have light grey beaks and legs, they come in 4 color patterns: dark grey with reddish-brown feathers, a blue head, a red neck with a red wattle, and a black beard, dark grey with brown feathers and a red head, dark grey with white stripes on its tail feathers, a blue head, a red neck with a red wattle, and a black beard, and brown with white stripes on its tail feathers and a red head.

Turkey chicks are always reddish-brown in color, with a light grey beak and legs, a pale brown underside, and tan leg feathers.

Behavior

Turkeys will not attack players unless provoked, and, when undisturbed, will wander around aimlessly and avoid any natural hazards such as high cliffs or lava; as well as this, they will occasionally lower their head to peck at the ground. If provoked by a player or another mob, they will fan out their tail feathers before running at their foe and hitting them once, dealing 0.5 hearts (1 HP) of damage; after this attack, they will revert to their previous passive behavior. When falling, they will flap their wings in order to slow their descent, similarly to the vanilla chickens.

Turkeys can be bred with pumpkin seeds, and are bred in the same manner as other vanilla animals (right-clicking with the breeding item). As well as this, they will follow any player holding pumpkin seeds within a radius of 8 blocks.

It takes 1 day for a turkey chick to reach adulthood.

Similarly to the vanilla chickens, turkeys will lay a single Turkey Egg every 5-10 minutes while they are alive.
